Most of the shops around the Altmarkt are smaller, independent outlets. Then there is the "Altmarkt-Galerie" mall with more than 100 shops, cafés and restaurants and a certain cosmopolitan vibe. Big international names rub shoulders with shops selling locally produced goods. The best known of the many markets in front of the Church of the Holy Cross (Kreuzkirche) is probably the historical Christmas Striezelmarkt.Inner Neustadt
Dresden's most exclusive district, the baroque quarter around Königstrasse, has more than 100 classy gourmet restaurants and boutiques and is a lovely place for a stroll and a spot of window-shopping. With its plane trees, mediterranean feel and interesting little craft shops, Hauptstrasse is an attractive shopping street and is also home to Neustadt market hall, a jewel of 1870s architecture.
